In the wake of his now viral comments on Beyoncé and Jay Z, hip hop legend Trick Daddy is sharing his life story in an Audio Book.

“I wanted to give a voice to all the folks who weren’t blessed enough to share our trials and tribulations and share the inspiration that was found after surviving those storms both natural and man-made,” says Trick Daddy, born Maurice Young.

The New York Times calls Magic City: Trials of a Native Son “a vivid story about Miami’s countercultural history.” The audio book is a follow up to Bailey and Young’s first critically-acclaimed collaboration and is published by NiteCap Media.

“The culture needs this moment to reflect on where we are as a society right now; we need the honesty and lessons presented in Trick’s story,” says the book’s co-author and narrator Peter Bailey.

Bailey and Young first met back in 2007 while Bailey worked as a staff writer at the Miami Herald covering education and urban affairs.

From Young’s take on Oprah to his bouts with Lupus and the drug wars that tore at Miami’s social fabric after the McDuffie riots; Magic City offers listeners a heartfelt and at times raucous retelling of Miami’s history.

Last week the hip hop pioneer became a global trending topic for his critique of Beyonce’s singing and her husband Jay Z’s rise to New York’s hip hop throne sending Beyoncé’s Beehive on the defense. The Beyoncé loyalists bombed Trick’s restaurant Sunday’s Eatery with a barrage of bad reviews leading the famed restaurant’s Google ratings to plummet from a 5.0 to 2.6 rating. The restaurant – praised by Rhianna, Snoop Dog, Pharrell and other stars – has been at the forefront of revitalizing Miami Gardens economic corridor.

Young doubled down on his stance while appearing on cable news shows which lead to a larger pop cultural debate on who fans deem the greatest R & B songstress of all time.
